I'm a big kid now!

On March 1st Celeste wore her first pair of "big girl underwear".

potty training

It's pretty clear that Celeste has begun to understand what it feels like to have to "go", so I decided it was time to get her a potty. It's been almost two weeks now. I'm not putting too much emphasis on it just yet as I don't want to scare her away from it. However, in those two weeks we've had two "almosts". The first happened on the very first day on her very first use. I sat her down, got her a book and we read for a few minutes. She decided she was done, stood up, squatted next to the potty, and peed on the floor. Then overly excited about what just happened decided to play in it. The second time happened just yesterday. Again she sat and read for a bit and decided she was done. On the way out the door before I got a diaper back on her she peed as she was walking. Again she got excited, turned around to inspect what happened, and slipped in the puddle. She gets lots of kisses and congratulations anyway for even recognizing that it happened. I think she's slowly starting to understand what the whole "sitting naked on this special chair" business is about. She just hasn't quite managed to time it or control it yet. And just so it's not all about potty, here's Celeste eating a grilled cheese sandwich. [caption id="attachment_110" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="can't a girl eat in peace?"]

If you're having trouble translating the look on her face, let me help you out. It's something like, "Dad, get that camera out of my face, will ya!?"
