Crazy Hair Day

Celeste's school is having a series of "Pride Days" through the summer. Wednesday's theme was "Crazy Hair Day". [caption id="attachment_122" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Celeste and her friend Ben show off their crazy hair for crazy hair day at school."]

ear infection!

Celeste has her first ear infection. She's taking it quite well, though. I picked her up from daycare Tuesday afternoon and she had a little goop in her eye. I wiped it out and it came back later. I asked a mom-friend of mine to have a look and she agreed that it was nothing to be alarmed about if there was no fever, which there wasn't. Wednesday morning, I get up bright and early and start work. Around 7am I go to wake up Celeste and find that her eyes are, literally, glued shut. She was really good and calm as I wiped away all the goop with a warm cloth. With things quite a bit more serious, I decided to take her to the doctor. After weighing in (24lbs!) and a few words from the nurse the doctor took one look at her ears and knew what it was: ear infection. She has had a sinus infection for quite a while that we were letting take care of itself for which her doctor agreed was okay. Apparently, it spread to her ears and was now in her eyes as well. My poor little girl! This also explains why she's been more cranky than usual and having a more difficult time getting to sleep for the past week. I'm grateful that, even though I had no idea what was wrong with her, I nurtured her crankiness. I'd feel even worse now if I hadn't. The doctor gave her a 10 day course of antibiotics and cleared her for daycare. She's doing quite well and I saw an improvement in her even yesterday. In other news, her hair is finally growing in. She no longer has the bald spot on the back of her head and it's almost to a point where it doesn't get all frayed just from sleeping. When her hair is wet, it actually goes past her neck! Look!
