Current Favourites

There are several things that Céleste seems to have taken a particular liking to. She loves technological devices. Among some of her favourites are remote controls, keys, and phones. With the TV remote, we usually disable it so that only 3 of the 50+ buttons work: Volume Up, Volume Down, and Mute. How she always manages to find the Volume Up button is still a mystery to us. When playing with my cell phone, she has managed to call several friends and family members, who now know that a silent call from my phone just means that Céleste is on the other end of the line. She loves it when Mom or Dad makes a big stack out of blocks or dominoes. You can start building a stack with just two blocks and she'll race over to knock them down. It becomes a contest to see how many blocks we can get stacked before she unleashes the destruction. Music is another one of her favourites. In fact, she's taken to needed background music in everything she does. She has a little cube with buttons on each side that play different songs. She'll crawl over to it, make the music start, then go back to her toys. When the song is over, she'll crawl back and make it start again. Repeat till infinity. She also loves to dance when music comes on, whether it's on the radio, from one of her toys, or in a TV show. Actually, you can ask her, even without music playing, "Where's your dance party?" and she'll start to boogie. She loves food. We cannot keep her full for anything. Luckily she's not at all picky either. Some of the stranger things we've found that she likes are olives (both green and black), old cheeses (aged cheddar or parmesan), bacon, clam chowder, lamb ... really, I can't think of a single food that she DOESN'T like. Well, she doesn't care for peas. But that's about all. Walks outside are still great fun for her. She'll sit up straight in her stroller and just watch the sights go by, babbling to everyone and no one. She'll wave at strangers and friends, but only after they've passed. Car rides are also still fun, though they don't put her to sleep as easily as they used to. In general, she really enjoys people. She'll let herself be held by anyone without a fuss, and she never makes strange. She did with one of our friends the first time she met him but has never done it again. She's a very social child! Climbing the stairs is her favourite hobby (with mom or dad right behind her, of course). She can make it to the very top of the staircase now without even so much as a fumble or falter. Pretty impressive! We're incredibly lucky to have such a happy, cheerful child.
